Turquoise Eye Beast Face Jade Pendant-A
Turquoise Eye Beast Face Jade Pendant-A
This white jade animal face pendant has rust stains. It is in the shape of an inverted trapezoid. The front of the animal face is arched and convex, and the relief is carved with "S"-shaped patterns of varying lengths. The "C"-shaped pattern represents the horn-shaped crown of the animal face, long eyebrows, a cloud-like nose, and oval eyes, which is a typical decorative style of the Spring and Autumn Period. (Oval eyes began in the Western Zhou Dynasty and were more common in the Spring and Autumn Period.) The special thing about this jade pendant is that both eyes are dotted with turquoise in the middle, and the eyes are bright and energetic.
Above the beast face, deformed cirrus clouds are carved with deep and shallow intaglio lines and filled with fish scales, making it full and plump. In the middle, a cicada is embossed, with fine intaglio lines carving its wings and eyes, and a fishing net pattern representing its head. It symbolizes rebirth.
This jade pendant has holes through it, so it is an ornament.
