Based on the shape and carving style, this jade head was probably made in the late Neolithic period or early Shang Dynasty. It is made of a local jade with a transparent texture like agate. The surface is well polished and has a glassy luster. Some parts are orange-red infiltrated. The edges of the jade head are sharp and angular, and some parts have traces of bumps caused by use.

The head is in the shape of an inverted trapezoid, with a flat top and no crown. There are holes on the top of the head for hanging accessories.

Thick eyebrows and big eyes are prominent, and the nose and cheekbones are higher than the chin. The overall facial features are three-dimensional and layered. There are holes on both sides of the huge ears for hanging earrings. There is a mortise on the neck below the head, which is speculated to be used to embed other objects. Usually, such objects with mortise structures are mostly used in sacrificial occasions.

This jade head is carved in a rough and simple style, and is bold and majestic, similar to the human figures unearthed in Sanxingdui. It is worth collecting and studying.
