This exquisite tiger-shaped pendant (L 67mm, W 25.5mm, T 13.5mm, 24.7g) is perfectly sized for wearing or as a hand-piece. Its material appears to be high-quality white jade, which has acquired a mature "chestnut yellow" staining. The patina is exceptionally oily (yourun), and the piece is superbly polished, exhibiting a reserved "glassy luster" (boli guang), feeling smooth and warm to the touch.
The tiger is depicted crouching, with splayed legs. Its eyes are carved in the archaic "minister-character" (chenziyan) style, strongly suggesting a Shang-Zhou stylistic influence.
Its most rare and unique feature is the "full-work" (mangong) carving of exquisite "scale armor" (linjia wen). From head to tail, the scales are arranged densely and meticulously, creating a powerful and highly decorative effect that is exceptionally rare among similar artifacts.
The tail is ingeniously curled inward to form a regular perforation for suspension. This piece masterfully combines high-quality jade, deep staining, rare decoration, and exquisite craftsmanship, making it a superb jade artifact in a strong Shang-Zhou style.
