Hetian Jade Carved Figure - Confucius Asks the Heaven
Hetian Jade Carved Figure - Confucius Asks the Heaven
This portrait is a carving made from the leftover material of a jade bracelet. The jade is of good quality, warm and mature, with a slightly light yellow color.
The face of the portrait is very similar to the Song Dynasty style, with ingot ears, straight nose, beard around the lips, tied hair, chest and head held high, wearing a plain robe, hands hanging at the sides, thin body, elegant and free.
The lines of this portrait are simple and vivid, with the beard, hair, collar, belt and folds all depicted.
Often the simpler the work, the more it reflects the craftsman's carving and aesthetics.
This small piece of work, carved casually from scraps of jade, not only reflects the carver's cherishment of jade, but also demonstrates his superb and unique jade-making skills.
