Double-sided jade bi with inscriptions and seal carvings
Double-sided jade bi with inscriptions and seal carvings
Judging from the window, this jade disk is made of green jade. The mottled rust color has penetrated deep into the texture, and the light cannot penetrate it.
There are 22 characters carved on both sides of the jade bi, and the content of the characters on the two sides is different. It is speculated that it is oracle bone script or bronze script. I am not knowledgeable enough to interpret it.
Although the jade bi has been finely polished, the traces of Lass left by the wire cutting on the edge are still clearly visible. Although the traces of the tube drill in the middle have been corroded over the years, there are still traces of wear and tear.
Judging from the size and thickness of this jade bi, it is likely to be made from the scraps left over from making jade cong or other objects. This shows the ancient people's cherishment and ingenuity for jade.
